Peterson, who played only one regular-season game in the last 20 months, showed off his new ink on Twitter over the weekend.

Peterson’s new tattoo is a testament to his religious beliefs. The tattoo is from Ephesians 6:10-19, which instructs Christians to “put on the full armor of God.” The tattoo is over his heart, with the letter “A” inside a shield. On Peterson’s left shoulder is a lion, which is above a sword and the Bible.

Peterson’s return to the field comes on the hills of a rocky year that included child-abuse allegations and a suspension.
