Biggie and Diddy’s Strange Friendship: Revisiting the Most Defining Moments

Popular beauty blogger Gigi Beauty shared a very personal—and teachable—moment with her fan base, ending with a very big reveal:

Girl.

Through nervous laughter, Gigi explained that a beauty experiment (read: bad idea) had compelled her to relax her hair not once, but twice.

In one day.

Girl. Have you no respect for your edges?

In the video, Gigi eventually admits that while the reveal was a joke made while she was in the process of shaving her head, her hair truly had begun to fall out as a result of over-relaxing. We can only assume that she decided to start from scratch—that is, if she hasn’t permanently damaged her follicles.

Celebrity stylist Dana Gibbs agrees. “It’s like putting Nair on your head,” she says, adding, “In the YouTube era, there are just some things you don’t want to touch or try on your own.”

Gibbs is no stranger to chemical processes; she has had her hands in the heads of some of the most well-coiffed women in entertainment, including Rihanna, Taraji P. Henson and Regina King. But while horrified at this Insta-fail, she concedes that there is a way to attempt a double process: with the help of a professional.

“Hair doesn’t straighten with the same consistency all over your head,” she says. “That’s why you need a professional standing over you, to see what areas need more attention.”

Gigi is gorgeous with or without hair, and clearly well stocked in wigs, so we know she gon’ be all right. But let her loss be a lesson to you: Don’t try this at home.
