(Writer’s Note: Again, I’m about to reference a major spoiler here. The North remembers you’ve been warned before and you’re being warned again.)

In Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4, entitled “The Last of the Starks,” we not only witnessed the aftermath of the longest battle ever seen onscreen, we also saw a set gaffe in the form of a disposable coffee cup.

Perhaps the only way we could cope with the fact that Missandei from the Isle of Naath had her head chopped off by The Mountain was to focus our energy on a fucking errant coffee cup in front of Daenerys Targaryen. To the point where it trended all day Monday on Twitter. You don’t know our lives!

Seriously, everyone couldn’t stop talking about what looked to be a Starbucks cup, which would naturally stick out on the set of a medieval fantasy series.

Well, amidst the hullabaloo, we received comments from an executive producer as well as the network itself. Everyone wanted to join in on the fun convo.

Well, that escalated quickly. But, that’s not all. Apparently, HBO decided to basically erase our memories like the (OG) Men in Black and remove the cup entirely. According to IndieWire, the cup had disappeared upon a subsequent viewing.

Because I fancy myself an investigative journalist (today), I decided to revisit the episode (the moment comes up around the 17:38 mark) to see if the cup was in fact, no more. And that bitch was, indeed, gone! Vamoose!

Also, it turns out, the cup was not a Starbucks cup, but a cup provided on behalf of craft services, according to a source’s scoop to the Wall Street Journal.

The Root reached out to HBO who confirmed the cup has been digitally removed from future airings.

What cup?
