Authorities announced Monday that they had apprehended a second man accused of plotting to kill Newark, N.J., Mayor Ras Baraka, NJ.com reports.

Jerry Jordan, 65, was arrested in his hometown of New Brunswick, N.J., on Friday, Newark police spokesman Capt. Derek Glenn said in a statement.
Jordan had been wanted since March 30, when Baraka’s office received a call reporting that two men had been overheard discussing a plan to kill him at Newark Penn Station. The caller, who was transferred to city police, gave descriptions that matched Jordan and his alleged accomplice, 56-year-old Kenneth Curry, Glenn said.
Curry was quickly detained; however, Jordan managed to flee and had avoided authorities until Friday.
According to Glenn, Jordan was being held on an unspecified open warrant. However, additional charges may be filed in the case, since an investigation into the alleged threat remains active.
As NJ.com notes, this case is not the first time that Baraka’s life has been threatened. The mayor increased security on his personal police detail and around City Hall after finding a pair of threatening letters sent to his mother’s home earlier this year.
