The pair, 18-year-old Larry Taylor Jr. and 21-year-old Jalen Watson, reportedly did not say much during the hearing, answering the judge’s questions about whether they understood the charges they faced, but saying nothing of the accusations that they broke into the home of Davey Blackburn and his wife, Amanda Blackburn, shortly after the pastor left for the gym around 6 a.m. Nov. 10.

Taylor and Watson both face charges of burglary and theft, among other charges. According to the Tribune, there is also a probable cause affidavit that claims that Taylor shot Amanda Blackburn three times, including once in the head. Watson also faces a murder charge because Blackburn was killed during the burglary in which he was allegedly involved.

The Blackburns’ 15-month-old son, Weston, was at home with his mother when she was killed. He was not harmed in the attack, however, and was found safe upstairs in a crib.

“Though it does not undo the pain we are feeling, I was extremely relieved to get the news of the arrest made last night of Amanda’s killer,” Davey Blackburn said in a statement Monday after the two were captured.
