Police were called to Royal Buffet in Manchester on Saturday around 8 p.m. following reports that a 21-year-old man had been punched in the face. The victim’s mother used pepper spray on his alleged attackers, but her son still suffered a cut to the lip and a broken front tooth in the scuffle, authorities said.

Clifford Knight, 45, and Latoya Knight, 38, were both arrested in the incident, authorities said. Clifford Knight was charged with third-degree assault and disorderly conduct before being released on $5,000 bail. Latoya Knight was charged with disorderly conduct and threatening and was released on $2,500 bail. Both are scheduled to make a court appearance April 14.

The victim and his mother will not be charged in the altercation; investigators determined that the mother used pepper spray in self-defense, authorities said.
