The summit is built around six main ideas: economic empowerment; health and wellness; educational opportunity; violence against women; entrepreneurship and innovation; and leadership and civic engagement. The idea, a Medium post by the White House notes, is to “rally together advocates of gender equality to highlight what we’ve achieved, identify the challenges that remain, and chart the course for addressing them.”

Highlights include a conversation on “Trailblazing the Path for the Next Generation of Women” with first lady Michelle Obama and media mogul and philanthropist Oprah Winfrey, as well as remarks by President Barack Obama.

According to the Medium post, 5,000 people have registered to attend the summit, which will also be live-streamed online.
