The group leading the controversial project has launched a “construction cam” that will document progress on the $120 million memorial and allow viewers to go inside—literally. Some folks took issue with the fact that an early model of King’s statue wasn’t smiling. The feds have since decided to turn that frown upside down, but here at The Root, we’re just wondering if the effigy will bear the words “made in China.”

WASHINGTON (AP) – The memorial slated for the National Mall in Washington honoring Martin Luther King Jr. will slowly take shape in view of anyone in the world.

The group building the memorial launched an “MLK Construction Cam” online this week to show progress on the $120 million project.
