The Root 100 celebrates the best young and emerging leaders (ages 25-45) who are outstanding in their fields. The list features a mix of people who are recognizable names and those who deserve more recognition, ranked according to a scoring system that measures reach and substance. As a result, our 2011 list included names as varied as pop superstar Beyoncé and law professor Michelle Alexander, rapper Kanye West and “starchitect” David Adjaye. Will you help determine who lands on the 2012 list?

The aim is to select the 100 men and women ages 25-45 who are the most influential African Americans in 2012. The Root 100 will be chosen across a broad spectrum of categories: politicians and scientists, musicians and clergy members, environmentalists and civil servants, entrepreneurs and artists.
