In an interview with Fox News, Palin talked about the low probability of joining into the Republican mix of candidates for vice president herself. But when the discussion turned to West, she spoke highly of his qualifications for the post, stopping just short of a formal endorsement.

“You know who I’d like to see considered for the V.P. slot is Col. Allen West,” Palin said. “In this very tumultuous time across our world, someone who has served in our military or at least has intimate knowledge of the way the military works and should work, perhaps by having a close family member serve, someone like that.

“Col. Allen West, who’s been to the school of hard knocks, he should be the one who should be considered seriously for V.P.,” Palin said.

Considering the number of controversial comments made by West during his time in office, it’s unlikely that any of the Republican presidential candidates would choose a running mate with such inflammatory views, despite Palin’s enthusiasm. The chances of West being selected are slim to none.
