And according to a (very funny) obituary, which was first reported by Talking Points Memo, his ex-wife and best friend, Teresa Elliott, used a little bit of fake news to grant him that wish by telling Elliott that President Palpatine was booted out of office. (I’m assuming that in this fantasy, both the House and Senate did their jobs and kicked Trump out of office. It is fake news, after all.)

“And the last thing she said to him was ‘Donald Trump has been impeached,’” according to the obit, which was posted on The Oregonian. “Upon hearing that he took his final, gentle breath, his earthly work concluded.”

In addition to being an apparent Trump hater, Elliott, who was 75 (or 76, since he wasn’t sure what year he was born in), lived a fairly colorful life. His obit notes that “after college at University of Virginia, he moved to Long Beach, Calif., where, among other things, he joined a semi-pro basketball team that toured the country playing exhibition games, dressed as women.” Elliott played under the name “Skaggy Maggie.” He was also quite the snappy dresser, “single-handedly keeping Nike’s apparel wing in the black.”

Elliott clearly lived a full life and went out surrounded by people who loved him enough to give him one final bit of happiness, even if it was based on a lie. We should all be so lucky. Rest in peace, indeed.
