Let’s begin on the American side of the pond in Marietta, Ga. On Thursday, Tara Marie Solem was charged with two felony counts of impersonating an officer. It turns out that back in July, Solem was willing to risk it all for some Chick-fil-A (who among us ... ). The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was the first to report the story.
As Fox News reports, Solem “at first tried to convince a drive-thru employee that she was a federal agent but was unsuccessful.”
Desperate for a discounted chicken sandwich, Solem refused to be deterred, going inside the restaurant and “[flashing] a silver badge to two managers in a bid to persuade them that she was a federal law enforcement officer.”
From Fox News:
“She stated that she was undercover and that for them asking her to be in uniform would blow her cover and [possibly] get her killed,” according to the arrest warrant cited by the [Atlanta Journal-Constitution].
Basically, give me $1 off this $5 sandwich or Imma die. Or get jail time. Whatever. There’s just something about that sandwich—I think it’s the tiny pickle.
Meanwhile, KFC fans in the U.K. and Ireland were feeling a similar hunger pain this weekend. Some KFC restaurants were closed starting Thursday of last week because of “teething” problems as the restaurants switched to a new delivery company, BuzzFeed reports.
The Colonel swore he was working on it, but that wasn’t enough to satiate the cravings of hangry KFC eaters.
“We won’t compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours,” KFC U.K. and Ireland’s Twitter account posted.
It’s news to me that KFC won’t compromise on—never mind. Twitter users were fairly reasonable about it, which is to say, they weren’t reasonable about it at all.
Our thoughts and prayers to our U.K. brethren that they’ll be reunited with their beloved chicken buckets soon.
