In his first public comments since the as-yet-unexplained vanishing of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, President Barack Obama is pledging that the jetliner is among America’s top priorities, the Associated Press reports.

According to the report, Obama said Wednesday that all available U.S. resources, including the FBI, the National Transportation Safety Board and other offices that deal with aviation, are being utilized in the search that has expanded to south of the equator.
“We have put every resource that we have available at the disposal of the search process,” Obama said in an interview with KDFW, a Dallas-Fort Worth television station, extending the nation’s thoughts and prayers to the distraught family members of missing passengers.
“It’s a big piece of planet that we’re searching and sometimes these things take time, but we hope and pray that we can get to the bottom of what happened,” he said.
