Authorities say that they responded to a call in the Heron’s Cove Condominium neighborhood at 9:09 a.m. The synthetic rope noose found in a tree in a common area near the neighborhood parking lot was first spotted at approximately 8 a.m., authorities said in a statement.

Officers interviewed residents, who reportedly had no indication that the noose was directed at anyone in particular, the statement noted. The noose was removed by police and submitted into evidence.

The police ask that anyone with information about the incident reach out at 301-279-8000.

The noose marks the latest of a number of nooses that have been found around the DMV area in recent weeks, including two at the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
