During Epps’ Detroit show Friday, he was accompanied onstage by not just any kangaroo, but a famous one. The kangaroo, owned by Javon Stacks’ Exhibit Zoo, went viral last week after Stacks was seen walking it around town. But Stacks has good reasons for his zoo. He brings animals to areas where kids can’t always afford to visit regular zoos.

“Inner-city kids’ parents don’t have enough money to go to the zoo, or transportation to go to the zoo,” Stacks told MLive. “When schools invite us … we perform in the gymnasium. We take 50-60 students every hour and rotate them.”

But when the animal joined Epps onstage, people had their fair share of complaints:

Epps responded to the backlash on Instagram, and although his comment was deleted, nothing gets past the Shade Room:

According to Stacks, the kangaroo was not harmed during Epps’ show.
