From Boyz II Men to Busta Rhymes, Mariah Carey’s catalog is loaded with classic collabs that prove what an amazing and talented artist she is. Although she has unlocked her vault to share previously unreleased remixes, bonus tracks and other gems, in a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” the “One Sweet Day” artist revealed that she has a very special collab with an iconic artist that fans have yet to hear.

During the interview, the R&B diva told host Andy Cohen that she sang along and recorded background vocals on one of Jackson’s classic hits, and although she’s dying to share the finished product with the rest of us, Jackson’s estate did not clear it for release on her latest project, “Here For It All.”
“I’m so upset that it’s not coming out on this album. Every time I would play it for somebody, they’d be like, ‘Wow,’” Carey told host Andy Cohen.
Carey went on to say that releasing her duet with MJ might, in her words “usurp” some “really huge” plans the Jackson estate has in the works.
Fans of both artists were quick to react to the news, pleading with the powers that be to make the song available to the public.
“Who has been gatekeeping this Mariah Carey & Michael Jackson Collaboration? This would be the most iconic collaboration of all time and monster hit. We need this now! #WWHL,” wrote someone on X.
Although Carey didn’t dish on which of Jackson’s hits she leant her voice to, fans are already daydreaming about what they’d like to hear the two amazing vocalists sing together.
“Can you imagine if it is “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You” ?? The two great voices ever,” wrote someone on YouTube.
Another fan made an interesting connection between one of Jackson’s smoothest R&B singles and Carey’s hit 1997 album.
I bet it’s the song “Butterflies”.. the high notes throughout & everyone knowssss Mariah loves butterflies!” wrote another fan on YouTube.
Still other fans made their case for making the song public as a way to bring a little joy into our lives.
“Wait What??? CAN THEY RELEASE IT PLEASE? FOR THE SAKE OF HUMANITY,” wrote someone on YouTube.
