Denver resident Merrick McKoy shot his 19-month-old daughter, Mia, in her mother’s apartment Monday morning, just before turning the gun on himself, and minutes after posing in a photo with the girl on Facebook.

The two were taken to a Denver-area hospital, where the girl was pronounced dead. McKoy, 22, survived his gunshot wound, but an official statement on his condition has not been released, according to CBS Denver.

New York’s Daily News reports that two of McKoy’s Facebook posts read: “Don’t judge me had no choice” and “I told I I can’t live without u lol u thought I was joking now me n Mia out this b——.”

The baby’s mother, whose name has not been made public, had a restraining order against McKoy. We’ll update this story as more details become available.
