However, earlier this week, he discovered that one of his campaign signs had been vandalized with white lettering that said “KKK,” the first time he’d ever seen something this blatant, the Kansas City Star reports.

“There’s some people that just got some dark hearts,” McConico told the news site. “They saw an opportunity to do something in the dark.”
