Ahead of the release of her memoir, Karine Jean-Pierre revealed the moments leading up to and following Biden ending his presidential bid in 2024.

If no one else rides for former President Joe Biden, surely you can count on former press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre to always have his back. But now that she’s officially left the Democratic Party, Jean-Pierre is spilling all the tea on how Biden disappointed her in the most devastating way.

Her memoir titled “Independent: A Look Inside a Broken White House, Outside the Party Lines,” is a deep dive into what led to her officially becoming an independent after serving as the face of the Biden’s administration. She previously revealed her decision largely centered around Biden dropping out of the 2024 presidential race. But now, more information reveals the harsh truth of the circumstance.

According to an excerpt obtained by Newsweek, Jean-Pierre never believed the former president would drop out of the race. Even after a horrible debate against President Donald Trump and an assassination attempt on the Republican’s life, Jean-Pierre was sure that Biden would see the election through… But then she heard news that would change history forever.

“I don’t remember his exact words, but he told us he’d made the decision not to run for reelection,” the former Biden staffer wrote in her book. She went on to blame Democrats for putting immense pressure on Biden and failing to support him when he needed it most. “The party had done so much damage to his campaign, there was no coming back from it,” she said.

Outside of the clearly unexpected news from the former president, Jean-Pierre revealed she was most devastated by Biden’s compliance with naysayers in his party. “He’d never let them win, I thought. He’d never step down even though the attacks on him were ugly and cruel,” the former staffer said. “He would double down.” But, she was wrong… And just like that, Biden dropped out the race, and we all know exactly what happened afterwards.

‘”I was enraged and heartbroken that this man had given more than 50 years of his life to serving the American people and, in the end, he’d be treated poorly by members of his own party,” she continued about her former boss. “It was horrible.”

These events ultimately led to her drawing a clear line between herseld and the Democratic Party. “You know what? I’m going to become an independent,” she continued. “I don’t think I can stomach being in the Democratic Party anymore.”

Jean-Pierre had been a registered Democrat since working on both former President Barack Obama’s campaign and administration. Expectedly, news of her denouncement came as a shock, and many Democrats in Congress had little sympathy.

“Who cares,” one unnamed House Democrat told Axios. “It’s easy for paid operatives to leave the party … until they need something.”

Another claimed, “Her explanation for this move is as confusing and disjointed as her answers in her White House press briefings.”

The timing of Jean-Pierre’s memoir couldn’t have came at a worse time for Democrats. Since Trump’s second inauguration, the Democratic Party has faced ample backlash over claims they aren’t doing enough to fight back against the president.
