“I think presidents have the right to pick their team,” Bush said during a “Politics and Pie” forum in New Hampshire. According to Politico, the former Florida governor pointed out that the longer Republicans take to confirm Lynch, the longer Holder will remain in the position.

As the news site notes, Lynch’s nomination has been stalled for 160 days over a sex-trafficking bill with a divisive abortion provision that is currently being fought over in the Senate.

“If someone is supportive of the president’s policies, whether you agree with them or not, there should be some deference to the executive,” Bush added. “It should not always be partisan.”

Bush is seen as a potential 2016 presidential candidate and has said in the past that he will consider running in the race that already includes Hillary Clinton for the Democratic Party and Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) for the GOP.
