Variety reported the 4:44 rapper is trying to get Travis Scott to back out of performing with Maroon 5 during the Super Bowl LIII halftime show.

Jay-Z’s reps have not officially commented on the matter, however. Still, it would make sense, since the rapper has been openly critical of the NFL and its treatment of Colin Kaepernick and the ongoing national anthem protests. As Jay quipped in “Apeshit,” the NFL needs him, he doesn’t need them, and thusly turned down a Super Bowl offer himself.

“I want y’all to understand, when people are kneeling and putting their fists up in the air and doing what they’re doing, it’s not about the flag, it’s about justice,” Jay told TMZ in November 2017 during his 4:44 Miami tour stop. “It’s about injustice. And that’s not a black or white thing, it’s a human issue.”

Since several other black artists have turned down the NFL’s big-time show proposal, Trav is out here looking like, “one of these things is not like the other,” and Jay is just trying to help a brother out.

In addition to his apt response to the news (asking, “For what????”), Meek Mill also noted the “Sicko Mode” rapper is “on fire already,” and didn’t need the championship game’s big show boost.

Karrueche Tran, who is dating former NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz, threw her hat into the “Don’t do it, nigga!” ring, as well.

“I just don’t think it’s a good idea,” the Claws star told TMZ early Friday morning. “I’m really hoping it’s not gonna happen.”

Word. Like Miss Sophia told Celie, it ain’t worth it.
