Although the studio has not confirmed the casting, Ice Cube has been championing for his son to play the role since earlier this year. In an interview with The Guardian, Cube said, ”I've been trying to get that pushed along. Just wanna make sure that he’s the best man for the job.”

Ice Cube is producing the movie with Dr. Dre and Eazy-E’s widow, Tomica Woods-Wright. Gray has described the script as a “dramatic story that encompasses hip-hop, dope-dealing, Reaganomics, AIDS, LAPD, rap feuds, FBI, PMRC, the parental advisory stickers on the records … all of it.”

Although Eazy-E’s son was vying for the role of his father, according to The Wrap, the role will go to an unknown actor.

No production schedule or release date has been set.
