According to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain is leading the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

His success thus far has been fueled by Tea Party supporters, conservatives and high-interest GOP primary voters, MSNBC reports.
Meanwhile, the poll shows Texas Gov. Rick Perry dropping more than 20 percentage points since August and plummeting to third place.
In light of the results and Obama’s declining poll numbers, commentators including The Root DC’s Robert E. Pierre are asking today whether Cain could really be the next black president.
But for now, Democratic pollster Peter D. Hart, who conducted the survey with Republican pollster Bill McInturff, says, “Cain is the leader … That’s the story,” and points out that “there is still a long, long, long time to go.”
