On Wednesday, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal gave a racist speech to educators in the state, Raw Story reports.

The governor apparently was frustrated with groups who opposed his Opportunity School District amendment, which is intended to turn “struggling schools around.”
Fox 5 reports that Deal believes if the amendment passes, the state can help poor minority children graduate and get jobs.
The NAACP spoke out against the amendment before Deal’s speech, and that’s when he responded with his racially charged comments.
“The irony of some of the groups who are opposing doing something to help these minority children is beyond my logic,” he said. “If you want to advance the state of colored people, start with their children.”
According to Raw Story, Deal has been accused of using racist terms before, such as “ghetto grandmothers.”
Deal defended himself and his remarks: “Well, I think I misspoke in that I didn’t use the entire name of the organization. I don’t think I misspoke in terms of where I think they should be on this issue.”
