Johnny Manuel, from Flint, Mich., told Simon Cowell that he’s been in the music business for a while, but after he signed with Warner Bros. Records at the age of 14, his career didn’t take off.

“As a kid, I thought that I was going to take off and see the stars,” he told Cowell. “Obviously it didn’t happen that way.”
