Khameyea Jennings, 18, died Thursday after a battle with liver cancer, which was diagnosed in 2013, said Cindy Hamilton, spokeswoman for Wolfson Children’s Hospital in Jacksonville, the report says.

Jennings and Marks met at Wolfson, where the teen was undergoing treatment, when he brought her a bouquet of flowers and asked her to prom in an event organized by a nonprofit group.

The two went to the Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology prom May 2 at the Jacksonville Zoo, right near the jaguar exhibit. Both were decked in white with gold trim. Marks drove the pair to the prom in his Lamborghini.

Laquandra Jennings, Khameyea’s mother, told the Times-Union at the time that her daughter enjoyed the opportunity to have a regular day with friends and her special guest.

“She said this is a day to be normal,” Jennings’ mother said, according to the newspaper, “not to have to worry about needles, chemo, potassium levels. Just a day to be a teenager and enjoy the prom.”
