Deadline reports that the 58-year-old multihyphenate dropped the news on a recent episode of the podcast Present Company with Krista Smith.
โNext year, in 2020, Iโm going to go on the road and do some stand-up,โ he said, before joking that it was time to get off the couch.
Details on the tour remain scarce, but itโs safe to assume itโs related to his rumored $70 million deal with Netflix to produce an unspecified number of comedy specials. Itโs also possible that his recent role as legendary stand-up comedian Rudy Ray Moore in the upcoming film Dolemite Is My Name sparked his desire to reclaim his throne as the King of Comedy.
โI wanted to have a movie that was really, really funny,โ he noted.
And with iconic specials like Raw and Delirious cementing his status as one of the greatest to ever touch a microphone, weโre expecting much of the same from his return to stand-up comedy.
