After Usher debuted a very retro pompadour hairstyle on New Year’s Eve, rapper, producer and auntie-hair aficionado Yung Joc took to social media to ask “Who Is the Real King of Hair & Fleek?” (No, really. That’s what he asked, verbatim.)

Clearly rattled by a new challenger for the crown, Joc opted to take it a step further, attempting to reclaim the throne via his hairstylist’s chair. And he emerged looking like… well, the peacock he clearly is.

Honestly, we don’t know what in the Manic Panic hell is really going on, but Joc is far from the first entertainer to rock technicolor hair, so, whatever it takes to keep us talking, I guess. Besides, he’s clearly loving it.

Are we? Well… it’d help if he’d put his clothes back on.

That said, at this point, we’re just hoping this “chal-laaange” (as entertainer writer Tonja Renee Stidhum called it), doesn’t escalate further, because all this posing and preening is wearing us out. In fact, we’re kind of hoping Joc and Usher grab another flamboyantly-follicled friend or two and start a super-permed supergroup (Or support group, because otherwise, what’s the point?) Maybe they can call it “Optimum” or “Just for Me.”

But hey, if Cardi and Nicki can change hair colors and lengths every week, who are we to judge? Besides, the most important feedback ultimately came from Joc’s twin daughters, who were as brutally honest as kids can be about their dad’s new look.
