Entertainment Weekly reports that Dave Chappelle is not planning a return to television, despite rumors that started last month when he made reference to planning a comeback at a stand-up show in San Francisco.

Online paper the Daily wrote that the former Comedy Central star was plotting to reboot his TV career by making a deal with a subscription service like Hulu or Netflix that would allow him a strong amount of creative control.

But that’s “absolutely untrue,” according to Chappelle’s rep, Carla Sims.

“He’s enjoying his life, he has a new daughter and is just doing what he’s really passionate about — stand-up,” says one source.

If sticking to stand-up is what it takes for Chappelle to continue making us laugh and remaining on this continent (no more TV stress-induced sudden disappearances to South Africa, please), we’re all for it.
