Beloved, You See Eminem on Your Dating App, WYD?

In his interview with Vulture, Marshall Mathers, more commonly known as Eminem, unloads a lot. Like, how much he hates Donald Trump (โ€œI get almost flustered thinking about himโ€); how, despite being from Detroit, he โ€œdidnโ€™t really believe that cops could be planting evidence or shooting unarmed black peopleโ€ until seeing all the evidence fairly recently; and how he โ€œmaybeโ€ took the misogyny in his rap lyrics โ€œtoo far sometimes.โ€

Oh, and apparently dating has been kind of trash.

On whether he dates, the 45-year-old divorced father (he and Kim Mathers split in 2001) said, โ€œItโ€™s tough. Since my divorce, Iโ€™ve had a few dates and nothingโ€™s panned out in a way that I wanted to make it public.โ€

He added, โ€œDatingโ€™s just not where Iโ€™m at lately.โ€

Given the scope of Mathersโ€™ workโ€”his virulently misogynistic lyrics and the fact that his ex said he nearly drove her to suicideโ€”thatโ€™s maybe not such a bad thing!

The interviewer then joked with Mathers about meeting dates on Tinder, only to have the rapper confirm that, yeah, he actually did use the app.

โ€œYeah, Tinder ... and Grindr. I also used to go to strip clubs.โ€

(Sidenote: This caught me off-guard when I first read the Q&A. It appears the Grindr reference is a joke. The interviewer, David Marchese, never follows up on the comment, but in a later question about Mathersโ€™ homophobia, Mathers says he doesnโ€™t โ€œswing that way.โ€ Marchese did follow up about the strip clubs, though, which leads us to ... )

โ€œWhat can I say?โ€ Mathers added, โ€œGoing to strip clubs is how I was meeting some chicks. It was an interesting time for me.โ€

Iโ€™m not trying to kink-shame, and maybe middle-aged, blue-eyed rappers with a penchant for diamond-encrusted cock rings (yes, thatโ€™s in the interview, too) is your thing. More power to you!

But as for me and my house, if Iโ€™m perusing Tinder and see the dude who once rapped about taking his daughter to dispose of her motherโ€™s dead body ... itโ€™s a swipe left for me, dog.
