The classic story, written by Madeleine L’Engle, follows time-traveling children as they search for their missing scientist father. As DuVernay takes on the director role, the movie will be written by Jennifer Lee, writer and co-director of Frozen.

DuVernay is also in talks to direct the sci-fi film Intelligent Life with Lupita Nyong’o and is currently filming her series Queen Sugar for the OWN network.
