The Blast reported that sources familiar with the situation claimed that the woman met with Anderson for a second time after sheโ€™d catered the event to discuss future opportunities to work together. That is when the woman claimed the assault happened. The women later filed a police report with the Hollywood Division of the LAPD.

In a statement to People, a representative for Anderson refuted the claims saying, โ€œItโ€™s unfortunate that anyone can file a police report whether it is true or false. The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.โ€

Reports claim that the woman delayed coming forward when it happened, but felt comfortable doing so months later, mostly thanks to the Me Too movement. This movement, helmed by friend of The Root, Tarana Burke gives women the space and support to come forward with their claims of sexual assault within the industry and beyond.

This isnโ€™t the first time Anderson has faced assault accusations. Itโ€™s been reported that Anderson and an assistant director for Hustle & Flow were accused of raping an extra on the set of the film, but charges against them were later dropped.
