And, no, this is not a story about famed international jewelry thief Doris Payne, whose penchant for shoplifting is well-known across the internet.

According to the Associated Press, 86-year-old Emily Coakley entered pleas to lesser charges of possession of an instrument of crime and simple assault to secure her probation, while the other charges, including robbery and theft, were withdrawn.

In November, Coakley, who uses a walker, strolled into a TD Bank in Philadelphia with a handgun and demanded $400. Not because Coakley was any common criminal. According to the district attorneyโ€™s office, Coakley took such drastic measures because she believed that the bank had shorted her the money ... and really, you canโ€™t mess with peopleโ€™s money like that.

Prosecutors cited the elderly womanโ€™s health issues and the fact that the gun was empty as reasons to settle on the nonreporting probation.
