While some people may know WNBA player Angel Reese as the “Bayou Barbie,” she may now be referred to as one of America’s next top models thanks to her recent debut at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion show. But let some folks on social media tell it, her strut isn’t anything to be praised. Let’s get into it!

As we previously told you, on Wednesday, Reese popped out as one of the models for the annual show, making history as the first ever professional athlete to walk the runway at the iconic event. The Chicago Sky player stunned in not one but two looks that night, the first of which was a light pink floral bra and pantie set with an accompanying floral and fur boa. For her second look, she rocked a cutout, cropped pink shirt which showcased her matching, light pink, lace bra and pantie.
During a pre-show interview on Prime Video, Reese said of the whole experience: “It feels amazing. With my name also being Angel, I think it’s literally perfect. It was destined for me, I think this is already for me. So I’m just really happy to be sitting in this room with so many amazing modes, so many amazing models.”
She later added that in preparation for the show, she hired a modeling coach to help her perfect her walk. Thankfully, all the prep showed up during her second walk of the night, where she glided down the runway effortlessly without tripping or stumbling.
After seeing the footage of herself after the fact, Reese hopped on X/Twitter to give herself flowers and hyped herself up, writing: “that walk so NASTY. i thought a h** said sum.”
She later added: “i don’t work jobs. I AM THE JOB.”
Once the video began making the rounds on social media, many were quick to praise the talented athlete.
“From the basketball court to the Met Gala & now the Victoria Secret Runway. The Queen of breaking barriers and doing everything they said she CAN’T do. Angel Reese, you will forever be famous,” wrote one user on X/Twitter.
“Angel Reese a Victoria’s Secret angel I’m so proud of her she slayed the runway fashion show I love all the VS models but Angel Reese my God slayed it. She is my favorite and is so beautiful and gorgeous as a Victoria’s Secret angel,” said another.
Added one other user: “and f*ck everyone that didn’t want angel reese on that stage….. she ate it tf up and i’m sure nah of y’all could ever hold a candle to her.”
However, there were a handful of people who weren’t all that impressed with Reese’s appearance. While some people made light of her achievement, others didn’t think fashion was a lane she needed to get into at all.
“I’m just glad angel Reese was able to get a second job. Gotta be hard paying Chicago rent,” said one user on X/Twitter.
Over on Instagram, another user said: “Oh wow, they will just stick those wings on anyone now.”
One other user noted, “She should stick to doing that basketball [this] is not her thing.”
“Tyra Banks would never, she’s not a model,” another said.
Reese’s debut is just the latest in her litany of business ventures. Over the last two weeks alone, she announced a deal with Juicy Couture detailing that she’s their global ambassador and creative collaborator.
