There is a Twitter account that does nothing but tweet the lyrics to the song “Africa” by Toto over and over again.

Before I go into my explanation for why this is amazing, let’s make sure we all know what song I am talking about. It is 1980s soft rock gold that everyone can relate to:

Now that we are all on the same page, please meet africa by toto bot.

When I say the account only tweets the lyrics to this masterful ’80s classic, I mean just that. It is not at all obnoxious—every three hours, another line from the song is tweeted out.

First of all, I had no idea the lyric was “I bless the rains down in Africa.”

I have always thought he was saying, “I guess the rain’s down in Africa.” I’ve thought this since I first misheard the lyrics when I was 11 years old. I had no idea why the rain ran off to Africa and left this man singing about it, but it was beautiful and melodic, and I went with it.

Anyway, as soon as I started reading these tweets, the melody played in my head, and it has been an earworm since then.

I know you feel it.

You’re welcome.

By the way, Toto also gave us “Rosanna,” another cool ’80s bop. The song was written about actress Rosanna Arquette, who was dating Toto’s keyboardist, Steve Porcaro.

I love that people come up with these cool concept accounts on Twitter. This account reminded me of another one I follow, Willy Shakes. This account tweets the “complete works of William Shakespeare, line by all 112,000+ lines - every 10minutes. This is cycle #4.”

The Shakespeare account is especially fun when you catch a random line that totally sounds like it could apply to whatever nonsense is happening on the timeline at the time.

Enjoy both of these accounts, and let me know some of your personal faves in the comments.
