Former Republican presidential candidate and Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney appeared on Fox News Sunday to address the controversy surrounding comments made about his grandson on a segment Melissa Harris-Perry’s MSNBC show last week.

He told Fox host Chris Wallace that he accepts her "heartfelt apology" and was ready to move on from the episode. The controversy began after Harris-Perry on Saturday delivered a tearful on-air apology, following a segment a week ago that mocked Romney’s adopted African-American grandson, Kieran, who appeared with the sprawling family in a holiday card.
“I recognize that people make mistakes and the folks at MSNBC made a big mistake and they have apologized for it,” Romney said. “That’s all you can ask for. I’m going to move on from that. I’m sure they want to move on from it. Look, I’ve made plenty of mistakes myself and they’ve apologized for this. I think we can go on from there.”
When asked about the so-called attack on the baby, Romney said, “If you get in the political game, you can expect incoming. But children, you know, that’s beyond the line, and I think they understand that, and feel that as well. I think it’s a heartfelt apology. I think for that reason, we hold no ill will whatsoever.”
