Two months earlier, according to the News, Lexune had been court-ordered to stay away from Smith after he had assaulted her.

Now, according to the report, Lexune faces charges that he choked Smith to death in a rear room of the cellphone repair shop, Bedford Technology, in New York Citiy’s Brooklyn borough.

Police tracked down Lexune to his Brooklyn apartment and took him into custody after he stabbed himself in the stomach with a knife, authorities say. Neighbors say that Lexune, who is married with children, had dated, but was then dumped, by Smith.

“When you realize he’s married with kids, and you try to get rid of him, he kills you,” one said, according to the News.

On Sunday, Lexune was awaiting arraignment on charges of murder.
