Stewart’s sister told KKTV that he was shot outside the building while talking on his cellphone. Although wounded, he called 911 and went back inside the clinic to warn others.

His wife said that the family wants justice. Stewart had two daughters, 11 and 6 years old.

“I was crushed; it was unreal,” Stewart’s brother, Leyonte Chandler, told KKTV. “Almost half a million people here [in Colorado Springs] and it happened to be my brother out of all these people.”

He added: “The guy [accused shooter] didn’t know [Ke’Arre], and he didn’t know the guy. I forgive him, though.”

The 29-year-old former soldier reportedly served one tour in Iraq before leaving the Army, according to KKTV.
