According to the report, Kelvin Smith, whom the Post described as โ€œa career โ€ฆ drug criminal,โ€ was pulled off the plane Saturday morning after an alert went off before the flight was due to take off and the marijuana was found. A closer look at his luggage resulted in the discovery of 2.8 ounces of crack and 3 ounces of psychedelic mushrooms in his second bag, which had previously cleared the scan.

โ€œThis just shows you how stupid criminals can be,โ€ a law-enforcement source told the Post. โ€œYou would have thought that a man of his experience would have known how this works.โ€

The Post reports that Smith acknowledged carrying the marijuana but denied having anything to do with the other drugs.

โ€œItโ€™s only marijuana,โ€ he insisted.
