The horrific incident unfolded on September 8, according to TMZ. An Instagram account posted footage of a young Black woman aboard a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority bus in Roxbury screaming at an older woman, “Get the f*ck off the bus!”

According to CBS News, the confrontation started all over a blocked exit. The younger woman continued to berate the elderly bus passenger, who was standing on the bus by the open doors, screaming, “You’re disrespectful as f*ck, people gotta go to work” while simultaneously pushing the woman out. The elderly woman held on tight to the bus’s open doors and bar, prompting the younger woman to tell the bus driver, “Get this woman bro!”

After the former didn’t budge, the younger woman can be seen taking matters into her own hands— literally. In the video, seemingly with all her might, VIOLENTLY shoved the elderly Black woman off the bus, sending her flying down to the ground. Fellow bus passengers audibly gasped in shock. But it didn’t stop there.

The young woman then grabbed the older woman’s black metal shopping cart… and launched it at her. CBS News said the woman fled on foot, and even tried to change her appearance to evade police, per prosecutors.

The woman in the video has since been identified as Luz Pineda, per NBC 10 Boston. She plead not guilty to one count of assault and battery on an elder or disabled person with injury at her arraignment Sept. 18. Pineda, 32, also has prior charges for assault and battery on a family member and was on probation for trafficking cocaine— which she violated. Her attorney claimed the victim was blocking her and her premature 3-month-old baby from exiting the bus, sparking the alleged assault, and that his client was stressed as a single mother of two.

The victim, who was transported to a hospital by paramedics, suffered a concussion, a cut to the outer corner of her eye and a broken blood vessel in her neck and eye. Prosecutors say she has no memory of the incident.

“That’s somebody’s mother, grandmother, aunt etc. I hope this elderly lady’s family see this, and press heavy charges!!,” one person wrote on Instagram.

Another person wrote: “The fact the bus driver didn’t do anything is so crazy.” Others agreed, writing, “Every damn body on that bus is CANCELED, not even a small collective to assist or interject on any level – The driver did not call the police !?”

A rep for the MBTA said bus drivers are told to not physically move anyone unless it’s a life or death situation, TMZ reported. They’re trained to contact first responders instead.

“I don’t care what she said, who she’s holding up but you don’t put your hands on someone like that,” another said. “There’s other ways to handle this.”
