In a viral TikTok posted on July 6, Summer can be heard scolding a family who let their kid take his $300 seat without asking him first. “Stay in your lane and in your seat,” Summer told the family in the clip. He is seen putting his carry on in the overhead bin as he demanded his seat back from the family.

“I don’t care about your daughter, your child and none of that. I paid for this one,” Summer declared. The family, according to the flyer, tried to move him to a middle seat or a window seat, which he declined.

Summer, who stands at 6-foot-2 per the New York Post, intentionally booked the aisle seat so he could fly comfortably. He responded to the incident in a six-minute video on TikTok after it made its rounds online on July 11.

“If you know me, then you know that that wasn’t me going off,” Summer said. “That wasn’t me crashing out at anything like that.” He went on to say how he’s not “the bad guy” before saying the unidentified family took his seat without asking for permission. He said he remembered that it was midnight and he “just want to sit down and get on a plane and go. That’s it.”

He recalled how he got “on the plane [and] I’m telling the lady, I’m like, ‘Ma’am, I really don’t want to take the seat from you and your child, but next time it would be the best thing to ask before taking a seat.”

Respectfully they should’ve asked him if it was coo first cause he did pay for that seat.

Summer said the flight attendant was of zero help, allegedly telling him that the child was entitled to the seat because she had boarded first. “‘Well yeah you is being a problem,” Summer claimed the airline worker told him. “You know, ‘You is being a bad guy.’ So I turned around and said, ‘Ma’am look, since you said all [of] that, just come get my seat because that was unnecessary and just like, rude. That was rude.’”

He said he got even more frustrated because he heard the attendant apologizing to the family for the inconvenience, says the flight attendant shouldn’t have let the family take his seat in the first place.

Summer admitted would have given up his seat if he had been asked first, but their audacity left him scrambling to find an alternative aisle seat. Ultimately, he was able to sit in his original seat when another passenger let the child take their seat.

Folks in the comments wholeheartedly agreed with Summer. “As a mother, I support this. It’s no one’s responsibility but my own to plan for my kids,” one person wrote. Another person on TikTok penned how sick they are “of parents feeling entitled on plans. BOOK UR CHILD IN THE SEAT NEXT TO YOU.”

Summer concluded his response with a “moral of the story,” which is to “just give people their seats back.” He had a message for flight attendants too, encouraging them “to do ya job because if that was somebody in first class, y’all wouldn’t have even let them sit down.”
