A$AP Rocky may be a rapper, fashion designer, father and rising actor with a full family and a full plate. But that doesn’t mean he can’t handle another major goal and his next one might be the biggest one of all: running for mayor.

Yes, you read that right! “Mayers for Mayor” just might be a real-life campaign slogan if the “Helicopter” emcee has his way in 2029. Sitting down for a new interview with Esquire Magazine, Rocky—legally Rakim Athelston Mayers— spoke on his aspirations, dreams and goals for the future—and didn’t rule out a foray into the political arena.
Specifically, when asked whether or not he was fit for politics and if he’d consider running for mayor in his hometown New York City, the rapper didn’t turn down the option.
“I think so. There are a lot of political affairs that need to be addressed, changes that need to be made. I think that I would really do well because I’m a guy that’s for the people,” he explained.
He went on to share a variety of issues facing citizens that needed immediate fixing. “See pot holes, fix ’em. The rates for the trains, like the train fare just went up to $3 — it’s f*cking crazy. Inflation is crazy,” the “Don’t Be Dumb” artist explained. “SNAP and welfare and food stamps and all of these benefits is f*cked up because that’s where I derive from. Creating more job opportunities, create better health care.”
He later added: “These are some of the things that most politicians come in promising, but for the most part a lot of the decisions made by politicians have ulterior motives and it’s really self-beneficial. For me, I make a really great living off being myself.”
With three kids, a billionaire partner and several businesses and creative endeavors under their belt, it’s hard to imagine how he’d fit in being the mayor of a major city. But knowing Rocky, when he sets his mind to something—he’s going to go after it.
