Porter made the shocking allegation on “Respectfully The Justin Laboy Show” in the Tuesday (Sept. 23) episode. Although he’s no longer with that girlfriend, he admitted he needs to know his woman is “here for the right intention.” Let’s break it down.

Porter, who refuses to live with a girlfriend until he is married, said it all started when his then-girlfriend was apartment hunting, found a place she liked, but couldn’t afford it. So he offered to pay what she couldn’t for a year, even if they broke up…which they did about six months later.

“I’m like, man, do I keep helping her out or is it cooked?” he said. Since their split, Porter said she has reached out “asking for the bread.”

“I don’t blame her because she went into that apartment not being able to afford it, and I gave her my word,” he said.

Laboy asked, “So, why you just don’t send her her half for the rest of the year?”

“Because she needs to act right month to month,” the NBA forward answered. “I’m just saying. So, if I’m paying the remaining months… and I see she’s wilding. Like, bro, it’s going to be hard to continue that agreement. That’s going to be tough because if you’re out here wilding, get that next dude to pay that rent.”

The host called him “cheap,” but he reasoned, “I still wanted to know that she was with me for the right reasons. Every dude in this particular person’s past had money. So I never wanted to feel like a girl was just with me because of what I have.”

Folks on the internet shared their two cents.

“He splits the rent at 200M? It really is getting rough out here,” one person wrote on X.

“What a dirtbag,” wrote another.

One man on X wants to “keep pushing this narrative [because] life ain free no matter how much you making.” Another emphasized: “He said girlfriend not wife.”

Someone else wrote on X that “love really has its own price,” as one woman said she didn’t “see no problem w this. Now if they’re married its a completely different story. Got to keep her honest until then!” One man shouted out “equality.”

The 27-year-old signed a $179.3 million contract with the Denver Nuggets in 2021, which included a performance-based bonus that brought the total to a whopping $207 million, per ESPN. For the upcoming NBA season, he’ll pocket another $38.3 million.
