Why This Black Woman’s Newborn Baby Has Become An Instant Celebrity

When Daniella Hines went in to a FL hospital to deliver her son, she had no idea he’d be a celebrity.

One Black Florida mother just got the surprise of her life when she met her new baby for the first time. Daniella Hines was overjoyed when she gave birth to a healthy son, Annan, on September 3 at BayCare’s St. Joseph’s Hospital-South in Riverview, Florida. But she couldn’t believe her eyes or her ears when she saw him and learned his birth weight – an astonishing 13 pounds and 15 ounces. In case you were wondering, the average baby born in the United States weighs somewhere between 7 and 7.5 pounds at birth, according to What to Expect.

According to the hospital’s communications team, Annan is believed to be the biggest baby ever born there, that’s likely why the news of his birth had the entire hospital buzzing. As Hines told TODAY in an interview, “He was the talk of the maternity ward!”

Hines and her husband, Andre, are both over six feet tall, a factor mom believes played a big role in Annan’s size. The couple also has a son, Andre Jr., who was born via C-section in 2018, weighing 12 pounds, 11 ounces. But mom said the sensation she felt during her newest baby’s delivery was unlike anything she’d ever experienced before.

“He was so big. I was like, ‘Whose baby is this? He came out of me?’” Hines told TODAY. “Then everybody starts coming in because it’s not every day you see an almost 14-pound baby pop out. He was like a little celebrity.”

As news of Annan’s amazing birth makes its way across the internet, he’s become something of a celebrity on social media as well as people send their well wishes to mom and baby.

“Congratulations on their big bundle of joy! God is good and he’s a handsome little guy!” wrote someone on X.
