As fans all over the world wait with bated breath for the release of “Michael,” the highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic—there’s new talk that the film may have unintentionally inspired some internal clashes between the family. In particular, new reports alleged that Janet Jackson, Michael’s younger sister exchanged words with their brother Jermaine and let’s just say: the convo didn’t go well.

As we previously told you, the upcoming film stars Jermaine’s son Jaafar Jackson in the titular role. While early fan reactions of the trailer alone seem to set up the movie as being a momentous occasion, a private early screening of the film proved to be otherwise, according to Page Six. Within the last week, “more than 60 members” of the Jackson family all came together to watch the film in Los Angeles. Per insiders who were present at the event and later spoke to Page Six, the event went off without a hitch initially with most of the family seemingly enjoying what they were seeing onscreen.
However, not too long after the movie ended, Janet allegedly made her feelings known about it and expressed her displeasure over it.
“She had something negative about almost every scene. The acting, the makeup, how the actors spoke, even how they walked. It was Janet deciding against the room that this movie wasn’t going to meet her approval,” one viewer present told Page Six.
However, according to one family member, Jermaine pushed back against his sister’s critique, allegedly accusing her of being “jealous” and begged her to “get on the wave.”
“You are going to miss this wave. You are so jealous. Just get on the wave,” Jermaine allegedly said.
The family member later added of the film and the argument between the two siblings: “We keep looking for that moment again, [but] only Michael can give us that and he’s not even with us anymore. But look at the talk this movie has generated worldwide. This isn’t just about Michael. It’s about us. It’s about our legacy. It’s about the comeback in store for all of us.”
Unfortunately, Janet isn’t the only one who’s had criticisms about the forthcoming film. As we also told you, in September 2025, Michael’s only daughter Paris Jackson came out and said that she had “zero percent involvement in” it and that she’d only read “one of the first drafts of the script” and gave “notes about what was dishonest/didn’t sit right” with her. She claimed that after the creative team failed to address what she brought up, she moved on from it.
Describing the film as full of “a lot of inaccuracies” and “full blown lies,” Paris made it clear that while she loves her dad—she didn’t want to take part in the movie.
“I spoke up, I wasn’t heard, I f*cked off. That’s it. Y’all are gonna like the f*cking movie,” she said in part. ” I just prefer honesty over sales and monetary gain.”
