Why Irv Gotti’s Brother Once Again Has Beef With Ashanti

Chris Gotti, brother to the late Irv Gotti, is airing out his issues with singer Ashanti and people online are NOT here for it!

Though it’s been months since Murder Inc. Records founder Irv Gotti passed away, there’s unfortunately still some drama brewing in relation to his death. This time around, it once again involves his brother Chris and singer Ashanti. Let’s get into it.

As we previously told you, Irv passed away earlier this year in February after suffering a hemorrhagic stroke. In the immediate aftermath, Ashanti—who had a notable and complicated relationship with Irv—revealed she was “really sad” about his death and the way things ended between them. However, she also denied that she was ever in a romantic relationship with Irv during the time she was signed to his label years ago and that “manipulation played a heavy part into me and Irv’s situation.”

Not too long after that in an interview on the “Let’s Keep it 100 Podcast,” Chris blasted the “Good Good” singer for her words and expressed his disappointment in her downplaying the nature of her relationship with his brother.

Fast forward to the end of September and Chris is once again airing out his issues with Ashanti. In a new interview on” The Breakfast Club” on Tuesday, he explained how he was extremely disappointed that she didn’t show up for the rest of the family following Irv’s funeral.

“For her not to call me after Irv passed, she texted me—that don’t feel right. Her mother Tina, that don’t feel right. You understand? I did everything for them,” Chris told host Charlamagne tha God.

He went on to say that Ashanti did send flowers to the funeral even though she wasn’t physically present—contrary to what some reports said at the time.

“When you say that with the flowers—it’s a good gesture. I won’t go further than that to be disrespectful to her because she probably thinks it’s good. But she should know better than that,” he explained. “She has to talk to me physically—actually she needs to come see me physically. I love Ashanti, that’s like little sis for real, for real.”

He went on to say that the singer thanked him for everything they’d done for her career, but noted that she because of the death, things should’ve been handled better.

“All bets is off when it’s death. It’s over. Nothing Irv could say. Nothing no more,” Chris said. “It’s over. Why can’t you? And again, if it’s because of your husband, you could come see me and talk to me.”

Once Chris’ words began to make the rounds on social media, countless people were bothered at the fact that he was on Ashanti’s case, “obsessing” over her (much like his deceased brother) and talking about her even though she essentially did nothing wrong.

“Ashanti is not obligated to do anything. And if she doesn’t want to be around that environment for her peace she doesn’t have to. Next!” wrote one user on X/Twitter.

“She dont owe yall nothing. It’s a business right. And the way ya brother embarrassed her and made all there business public. Nope she doing the right thing staying away. Sent flowers god bless the dead and all but she over there wit her new baby. She right,” said another.

Added one user on Instagram: “The whole family obsessed with her. She made a post sent flowers and her condolences. Leave her tf alone. Death doesn’t equate to the disrespect she was subjected to for years.”

Now it should be noted here that the expectation to have Ashanti show up to the funeral is somewhat egregious given the fact that she and Irv didn’t exactly have the best relationship during her career and towards the end of his life. Despite how much he and his brother may have done for her, she’s an adult, a new mom, and a wife so there were plenty of dynamics that more than likely contributed to her decision not to show up to the funeral. He needs to leave her be!
