Since Elon Musk acquired X, formerly known as Twitter, in 2022, there has been an uptick in MAGA-related and anti-Black content. In fact, this content has become so commonplace that Black users seem to have stopped noticing it. However, following Musk’s endorsement of a White nationalist post on the platform, heightened vigilance is necessary.

Within two years of Musk’s ownership of X and amid the peak of President Donald Trump’s political campaign, Black people were debating whether to abandon the app.
The platform had experienced a significant surge in racist content, with the Associated Press reporting that the use of racial slurs escalated following Musk’s takeover. Furthermore, during Trump’s campaign, Musk himself promoted racist content concerning Kamala Harris, by sharing a fake AI video that purported to show the presidential candidate calling herself the “ultimate diversity hire.”
However, other than outrage at loud and wrong tweets about slavery last August and beef with Don Lemon that took the pair to court, Black olks haven’t paid as much attention to Musk’s X antics since his dramatic political fallout with Trump. This is particularly true as he appears to have shifted his focus toward British politics, as shown by multiple posts about the United Kingdom on his profile.
But on Thursday, Jan. 8, the South African billionaire retweeted a white nationalist post that should have everyone shook. Quoting the post with a “100” emoji, Musk endorsed a message stating that white solidarity is the only way for White folks to “survive.”
“If White men become a minority, we will be slaughtered. Remember, if non-Whites openly hate White men while White men hold a collective majority, then they will be 1000x times more hostile and cruel when they are a majority over Whites. White solidarity is the only way to survive,” the post read.
Not only did Musk endorse white nationalist talking points, but the billionaire also supported messages in favor of ICE. This came immediately after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement caused outrage this week when an agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis.
And it seems. these white nationalist and pro-ICE talking points come as Musk jumps back onto the GOP wagon for the 2026 midterms. According to Fox Business, Musk has already begun investing money back into the Republican Party, giving it the financial boost that previously helped Trump secure the presidential election.
