In news that can only be described as “this ain’t a good look for you, girl,” boxer Claressa Shields and her boyfriend and rapper Papoose are back in the headlines. But unfortunately because of Shields, it’s not for anything good.

If you’ll remember, we were all alerted that the two were an item in December 2024 when Shields and Papoose’s involvement was blasted to the masses on social media thanks to Papoose’s estranged wife, fellow rapper Remy Ma. As we told you at the time, Remy leaked alleged text messages between Papoose and Claressa, the woman he was allegedly having an affair with then. The “Shether” rapper then began putting out even more texts between the two and hopped on Instagram to blast him. Papoose, in return, accused Remy of cheating on him for years with another man.
Fast forward to May 2025, Shields appeared on “The Breakfast Club” and broke her silence on her relationship in an official interview. During the conversation she stated that although the entire situation was messy, she was confident in the bond she built with Papoose. He filed for divorce from Remy that same month.
Well, now that bond is getting renewed scrutiny thanks to yet another “Breakfast Club” interview on Friday where Papoose decided to update his fans and followers on the status of his relationship with Remy. To be clear, he and her are still legally married, yet he’s gone on to build a relationship with Claressa–despite the backlash it’s received.
When the hosts asked Papoose if he there was any validity to the online chatter that he was ever cheating on Remy, he responded: “Y’all was there every step of the way. Y’all was there when I was riding up there to the prison. Y’all seen me fighting court officers, getting thrown out of the courtroom. It was in the newspapers. Y’all seen everything. How can I come to y’all and say something didn’t happen? Y’all got to stop, man. Like, come on.”
However, it was Claressa’s words that came next, and her constant chiming in and talking over Papoose that got folks online looking at her crazy.
After cohost DJ Envy told Papoose he wanted him and Remy to work out their friendship and their parenting, she interjected: “That takes time. It’s a divorce. It’s not something that just happens overnight,” she said. “People life don’t stop because of that. It’s papers. It’s time. It’s all this stuff that got to happen. But at the end of the day, we move forward with our lives.”
To make matters even more suspicious, while attempting to defend their relationship, Papoose referred to Claressa as his “best friend” and not his woman or girlfriend–a move that unintentionally brought in more people to clown the Olympic-winning boxer even more online.
“Clarissa Shields is too comfy discussing a marriage in which she had no involvement, and her delusion won’t allow her to feel embarrassment. Papoose is equally at fault for failing to establish boundaries,” said one person on X/Twitter.
“So we gonna ignore the fact that he said Clarissa is his best friend and she goes on to say they’ve been together for over a year, straight jokes,” one other user wrote.
“Her cutting Papoose off try to explain him and Remy’s relationship is very strange…..” said another on Instagram.
Added another person: “I think I’d respect her a lot more if she just let Rem & Pap figure that out. Sometimes, your input isn’t needed nor does it help. As a woman and future mother, I’d like to think she wants their best interest for their daughter’s sake.”
One other user kept it frank, writing: “Respectfully Clarissa mind your business.”
