On Friday (March 15), an episode of βThe Joe Budden Podcastβ aired which featured a sit-down interview with Candace Owens. During the unnecessary conversation, Budden and the right-wing commentator covered an array of topics from βfat acceptanceβ to modern-day rap music.
However, one glaring question remains: Why did Budden feel to need to ask Owensβ opinion on Black culture when she has vehemently made a career out of anti-Blackness?

During the talk, Owens called Lizzo βproblematicβ and once again condemned her size. She also criticized Sexyy Red and Ice Spice, ultimately citing them as part of the reason hip hop has declined. βWe used to produce really good music and itβs gone down the drain. I think even that is international,β Owens stated.
βI think itβs because itβs a part of the, βLetβs slowly make it modify the education systems so that Black people canβt read and, at the same time, feed them with a pipeline of garbage,β and you will wake up one day, and what surrounds you will be garbage,β she continued. Owens did briefly discuss how the music industry is intentional with the Black women they choose to elevate.
Sadly, she saved most of her disdain for the Black artists themselvesβnot the systems that inhibit them. This has always been the way Owens chooses to operate since she built and sustains her following by championing white supremacist ideology. Quite frankly, she will never support or uplift Black culture because she has too much invested in doing the opposite.
Owens has: called Fani Willis a βghetto superstar,β stated that the Black Lives Matter movement promoted Black anarchy and labeled it a scam, said George Floyd died from a drug overdose and is an avid Trump supporter. She is also an anti-vaxxer, has gone after trans folks and said Hitler was decent at first.
Owens will always disparage Black folks every chance she getsβBudden should have known better.
