Enough! For The Sake of Her Kids, Here’s Why Beyoncé Needs to Stop Smiling, Riding That Dangerous Flying Car

The singer was almost seriously injured on Saturday night. Time to let the car go.

Even with a reputation as a consummate professional, Beyoncé’s self-belief may be causing her more trouble than she realizes. There was Sis or Mother, depending on your POV, smiling lovingly to her fans as her flying car dangled dangerously in the air. Even her most ardent fans found this to be an ill-advised image.

But that's Bey, the consummate professional, right? Every time you buy an overpriced ticket to one of her concerts (No shade, but she is assaulting people’s pockets), you know what to expect: Singing, imaginative choreography and top notch production design and that Flying car. But during the Cowboy Carter tour's Houston stop Saturday (June 28), people almost got something unexpected.

Towards the end of the concert, the Former Destiny’s Child performed the chart topping song "16 CARRIAGES" while flying over the audience in the official car of older Southern Black folks who are doing well but not balling out of control: a Cadillac. But there was an embarrassing problem with the performance on Saturday night. The car almost tipped over, putting Blue Ivy, Rumi and Sir’s mother in danger of serious injury.

Since everyone record concerts on their phones, this was all caught on camera and from every angle. And Bey, the ultimate professional, had to do something she almost never does: She stopped the performance.

Whether it be a baseball cap or a cowboy hat, you gotta tip it to her. If most of us were in that situation, we would have been praying to Jesus, Allah AND Olorun (whoever would respond first). But she didn’t do that.

She remained professional, but she was clear and firm. She wanted out of that contraption immediately.

Look, you don’t have to love her to not wish ill on her. Even Bey’s biggest haters do not want to see the woman fall hundreds of feet and be seriously injured. This singing from a car suspended above the audience is just a bad idea. It could suddenly tilt over and send Beyoncé falling. Or, worse yet, it could fall on the concert goers—and that would be an unmitigated disaster.

She did not ride in the red Caddy in her show the following night. Let’s hope she’ll never do it again. Having a car float during the concert was a nice idea, but she needs to cut her losses and let it go. We are not trying to see anyone die because they went to a Beyoncé concert.
